Question: What is FENSA

FENSA is an acronym that stands for Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme. It was set up, with approval from government bodies, by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) Fensa works with contractors in England and Wales who have been assessed for their ability to install replacement windows and doors in accordance with the relevant Building Regulations.

Question: What is a FENSA Certified

FENSA Certified Compliance, After the work is done, you will be given a certificate to prove that the work complies with building regulations. You should keep this certificate because you will need it if you decide to sell your property. If you lose the certificate, you can re-order it via the FENSA website.

Question: What is GGFi / IBG

GGFi was established by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) in response to a need within the fenestration industry with a focus on providing high-quality insurance.

Insurance Backed Guarantees (IBG) and Deposit Protection.

FENSA installers are required to have a number of protections in place to take care of their customers, including an insurance-backed guarantee on replacement windows and doors. If you pay a deposit on the work, then the deposit will be protected by an indemnity scheme for your protection.

Question: Do Period Sash Windows products/works come with a guarantee

 
Yes, our windows are guaranteed for ten years with GGFi.  Wood can move but we never run away, even years down the line, we will come back and fix any problems.

Question: What is Low-E glass

Low-e glass stands for low emissivity glass. This glass varies from ordinary clear glass in that one side of the glass has a unique metal coating, technically known as low emissivity or low-E coating. This is a type of insulating glass, which increases the energy efficiency of the windows by reducing the transfer of heat or cold, That means in the winter your house stays warmer, and in the summer it stays cooler.

Period Sash Windows is based in Muswell Hill, most of our work is local but we may travel to other areas in London and surrounding counties, please call to find out availability. 

 

Question: What are your payment terms


We require a 50% deposit on all orders and the balance to be paid on completion.

 

Question: Do your sash windows come painted


Windows come supplied with two coats of Dulux weathershield undercoat, and two coats of Dulux weathershield gloss finish.

 

Question: Are there any additional payments required


All costs are included in the quoted price; there is no hidden extra!

 

Question: Do you fit ironmongery/furniture


Yes. Our excellent quality standard range is included in the quoted price in satin chrome, chrome or brass. You may require your own choice of ironmongery fitting is included.

 

Question: Can you give me a completion time

Approximately four weeks from when the deposit payment is received

to installation.

 

Question: Can you quote me for an average size Box sash window


No Victorian, Georgian or Edwardian windows are the same. It will depend on the style of the Window. That is why we require width and height sizes to be able to give an accurate quote. We do offer a free survey from which we can build a quote to your specific requirements.
